Dogs are lovable and we can’t live without them, but sometimes traveling can be a little tricky with that furry friend in your backseat. By the time you’ve reached your destination, every crevice is covered with their (sometimes smelly) hair.
Not only is this annoying for you as the owner of the vehicle, anyone else getting into your car will also be turned off by the now furry seats.
Before we dive into how to get all that dog hair out of your car, here are a few tips to avoiding getting that fur all over everything.
Brush your dog before the trip
A great way to avoid getting dog hair in your car is to brush your pet thoroughly before letting them hop into the back seat. This at least gets rid of any excess fur that is prone to fall out.
Use a crate
If the dog and its crate are small enough, another good option can be to put them in their crate in the back. Their hair will be more contained to one spot, and it can potentially better protect them in a car crash.
Put seat covers in your car
Using seat covers in your vehicle can also help prevent dog hair from embedding within the many crevices. When fur does get in the car, you can easily remove the seat covers and wash them.
Those are all steps to preventing shedding, but what happens when your dog has already gotten its fur everywhere?
Try the techniques below to efficiently remove pet hair:
Compressed air and gloves
One way to get the fur out is to blow the interior with an air compressor, put on nitrile gloves, dip them in water, and then run your hands across the surface areas to collected any loosened hair.
Static electricity of a balloon
Because balloons can produce static electricity when rubbed, they can be used to remove hair by blowing them up and rubbing them against the upholstery.
Fabric softener spray
Another technique is to combine a couple of tablespoons of fabric softener and water then spray the mixture over the inside of your car. Next, wipe out the loosened hair with some paper towels.
Shampoo the inside
If all other methods fail, the foolproof way to remove dog hair is to shampoo the inside of your car. To get professional detailing services, call us today for help!
Taking your car to a tunnel wash can be can easy thing to forget, but it’s crucial for maintaining the worth and lifespan of your vehicle. However, the frequency of washing your car depends on several varying factors.
Depending on whether you live in a hot and dry, cold and snowy, or anything in between kind of environment, the number of car washes per month or year will change case by case.
Regardless of the normal type of weather in your area, it’s important to prepare for anything. If there’s any chance your geographical location could experience snow or harsh elements, it’s good to prepare your car for cold temperatures by checking your engine coolant and antifreeze levels, making sure your tires have good pressure and tread depth, and using winter windshield wiper fluid.
If you do experience a storm, be sure to get your vehicle thoroughly cleaned afterwards, especially to remove any salt.
Lifestyle and location
People who commute long distances for their work or like to take frequent road trips tend to accumulate more dirt on their cars, which can cause rust and wear. If you are consistently adding a lot of miles to your vehicle, it’s a smart idea to wash your car once a week.
Because weather and other elements are dependent on location, your area will affect how dirty your car gets. For example, if your location gets excessive rain, moisture can build up inside and around the car. Also, hot sun can melt wax off quickly, so if your area is dry and hot, it’s a good idea to get an additional wax with your wash.
Simply put, some people care more about how their cars look than others. That’s why personal preference also plays a part in how often people wash their vehicles.
If you want your car looking consistently sleek and polished, go ahead and wash it once a week. But if your car isn’t exposed to harsh weather, isn’t building up wear quickly, and you don’t mind the appearance as much, we suggest washing it once every two or three weeks.
Overall, it’s important to keep in mind that cleaning your car on a regular basis helps it run longer and maintain its value.
Now that you know how often you should wash your car, you just have to decide if you are going to wash your car today. If you have any additional questions or would like to give us any feedback, reach out to us today! We’d love to chat.
Notice to all unlimited RVA Wash Club Members…
Our unlimited wash club has been one of the best offers we have ever created according to you, our valued members. We always receive feedback like “this is the best deal in Richmond.” But with all of the great things about the club the biggest complaint is “It’s too complicated.”
We now offer 5 different clubs. Some clubs get discounts on 2nd and 3rd vehicles while others do not. The different levels of clubs receive different washes and members aren’t always sure which wash they get and what is included.
We have listened to your frustrations and we are rolling out a new, better and simpler RVA Wash Club program. We now have just 2 membership levels and each will always receive the “BEST” exterior wash package available at ANY location!
Our “best” exterior wash at our express wash locations is currently the Fire & Ice Express ($15 value) and at our full service locations the best exterior wash is the Clean Getaway ($18.99 value). We will now offer an UNLIMITED EXTERIOR CLUB for only $20 PER VEHICLE! Also, if an Exterior Club member visits a full service location and would like an interior cleaning they can upgrade to the Flagstop Complete package (normally $35) for only $10 each visit.
Our second club offering will be the UNLIMITED FULL SERVICE CLUB for only $40 PER VEHICLE. Members of this club will receive the “best” wash at our full service locations which is currently the Flagstop Complete for $34.99. Yes, that wasn’t a typo. Members will receive a $35 wash unlimited for only $40 per month per vehicle. If these members want to visit our express washes they will of course receive the “best” wash available at those locations as well.
Unfortunately we will be dropping the Express Pass ($12.99/mo) we just recently launched. While it did bring in some new members, most were not happy that it was only good for a $6 exterior wash and that there were no benefits to visiting a full service location.
Our members have spoken and we have listened. No more confusion and questions about what services are included or not. Now we have only two plans with no need to keep second and third cars on the same plan.
These two plans are now available and current club members will have until January 31, 2018 to decide which plan they would like to move to. Any members we have not heard from by then will automatically be switched. Current Platinum and Gold members will move to the Unlimited Full Service membership and all others will be moved to the Unlimited Exterior membership.
Please feel free to call our customer service line at 804-782-9274 or email email@example.com to discuss your membership.

Looking for a great way to raise money for your school, church, or charity?
Flagstop partners with all types of groups to sponsor Car Wash Fundraisers and we would like to be your partner in your next fundraising venture! Our programs are not only simple, but powerful.
We would like to suggest that before you consider using a local parking lot for your next car wash fundraiser that you think about the many financial, safety and environmental benefits of working with Flagstop Car Wash.
We Can Help You Make More Money
You will earn larger profits at a faster rate than if you tried to wash that many cars yourself. Our two most popular programs are selling discounted Flagstop Gift Cards and our FREE CAR WASH DAY.
Discounted Gift Cards
The discounted gift card program is very straight forward. Flagstop provides a $25 gift card to be sold by your group for only $20 (that’s a 20% discount!). For each card that is sold Flagstop will then donate 50% ($10 each) back to your group. So, if your group sells 200 gift cards at $20 each (totaling $4,000), Flagstop will donate $2,000 to your group!
FREE Car Wash Day
(We are currently not running any Free Wash Day fundraisers)
Our best fundraiser is our FREE CAR WASH DAY. This works extremely well and the amount of money that can be raised is HUGE. This program is a bit more complex, where your group members solicit pledges from friends, family and co-workers for however many cars we can wash in one day.
For example, someone pledges that they will give a nickel (.05 cent) for each car wash on the date of the FREE CAR WASH DAY. Let’s say that on the day of the event Flagstop washes 400 cars. The person that pledged the nickel will owe $20 (400 cars @ .05¢).
Now let’s assume that each person in your group had 10 people pledge to give a nickel, so now each group member will collect $200 (10 pledges @ $20 each). If you have 30 people in your group receive 10 pledges each, that equals a total of $6,000! Of course if you have a larger group, your people could get more than 10 pledges, or even higher pledges (we’ve had people pledge as high as $1 per car!).
The best part is when you collect a pledge you give that person a reminder note to come by Flagstop on the day of the event to get a FREE WASH. So not only are they donating money to your cause, but they have the opportunity to get a FREE WASH for their pledge!
The greatest part of the event that raises even more money is that on the day of the event your group will be able to set up at the location hosting the event to collect donations from customers who were coming by Flagstop anyway and did not realize that it was a free car wash day. Those customers typically donate the amount they were planning to pay for their wash that day.
Why Partner with Flagstop?
We Eliminate Your Liability for Damage or Injury.
When you run your own car wash you run the risk of damage to cars, personal injury to a member of your organization or to a supporter. It just doesn’t make sense for your organization to assume that kind of risk when you can leave it up to us.
We’re Better for the Environment.
In many states and municipalities, shopping center and school yard car washes are discouraged because they overwhelm the local storm system with phosphorus and pollutants that destroy the beauty of local ponds and streams. We dispose of our waste-water into the sanitary sewer to be treated according to strict EPA, state and local regulations.
We Care About Our Water Supply.
Whether our water is plentiful or in short supply, the fact remains that washing cars with a hose and bucket wastes water. This method can use up to three times the water used by a professional car wash. Not to mention with water and sewer bills going up dramatically all over the country, why encourage wasteful habits when we can encourage conservation of our most important resource, water?
Why? It Works!
By working with us, charities, teams, schools and church groups typically raise far more money than they can by going at it alone. Part of the reason is because we offer a service that people in our community already know about, value and regularly use. When they bring the flyer to us from your organization, they know they are supporting your activities, and getting a great car wash too!
The FREE CAR WASH DAY can literally generate thousands of dollars and exposure in just one day, but it is a bit more complicated to promote and organize.
We would enjoy speaking with a representative of your organization to further discuss how we, as a member of the International and Southeastern Car Wash Associations, can play a vital role in supporting the activities that make our community a great place to work and live.
